Recalls are typically used for cleaning and prophy exams. These are not the same as recurring appointments.

To prepare recall appointments, two check boxes must be activated in two separate screens.

Service Code Entry

First, there is a check box in the Service Code Entry screen to designate a code as a recall transaction.  Open the Service Code List (Lists menu, Service Code List), locate each applicable transaction code, and edit it to be sure it is marked as a Recall transaction.

Any code designated as a Fee for Service type can be marked as a recall transaction.

Patient Information

Next, set the recall frequency in the patient file by clicking Use Recall and designating the interval you want between appointments.  The patient's insurance company determines the interval.

We recommend clicking the Plus 1 Day box to ensure coverage for the patient.

Following these setup procedures, after you mark a recalled patient's appointment complete, the program will prompt you to make another appointment, automatically selecting a time similar to the current appointment and already assigning the provider. These setting can be overridden if necessary.

info

If there is a pre-existing future appointment with a recall transaction for this patient, you will not be prompted to make another appointment.

With recalls activated, you can use the Recall Work List to help in scheduling recall appointments.
